Twin XL Sheet: The size of the sheet is a very important aspect that needs to be kept in mind when making purchases. Twin XL is the most popular size. This is because, these days, most of the colleges furnish their dorms with twin XL beds. It is important that you buy multiple set of sheets, as it would not be possible for you to launder your bedding every two weeks. Also, do remember to get a weather check of the place where your college is located, as most of your bedding shopping would be based on this factor. So, if it is usually cold there, it is advisable to buy flannel sheets, and if it has a warmer climate, then you could use cotton jersey sheets.
Although these originated in the rural parts of Europe, people all over the world use them now and you may even find them being used in hotels and guest houses. I believe that apart from cheese and wine, these are the best invention to ever come out of Europe. But if you like bed picnics, all you need is a duvet, a bottle of wine and some cheese and you can pretend you are in rural Europe!
If you're unsure, measure the duvet that you're purchasing the cover for, and also look for size specifications on the packaging of the cover. If you're shopping online, make sure you're shopping one in the right size before placing an order. It's important to note that, for example, not all king size duvets are of the same size. So, it is always recommended that you know the exact measurements before you buy one.
Before purchasing a duvet, remember to check its tog rating. The "tog" is a measure of thermal resistance -- that is, how hard it is for heat to escape through the duvet. A 3.0 - 4.5 tog rating is usually sufficient for summer. For spring and autumn, a rating of 7.0 to 10.5 will keep you warm. In winter, you will probably prefer a duvet with a tog rating of 12.0 to 13.5. If you are buying a duvet for a child, go for a lighter tog rating -- children are more likely than adults to find a high-tog duvet uncomfortably warm. If you want to be prepared for anything, look into duo duvet sets. These include both a low-tog and a medium-tog duvet, which can be joined together to create a high-tog winter duvet. Some manufacturers also offer duvets that have different tog ratings in each half, for the benefit of partners who feel the cold unequally.
